Indian Bollywood actress and producer, Ekta Kapoor, has had a baby boy via surrogacy – seven years after first trying for a child
The 43-year-old announced the news on Twitter soon after baby Ravie, her actor father’s original name, on January 27.
She thanked her IVF specialist, Dr Nandita Palshetkar, for her help and added a note the doctor talking about the time Ekta has been trying to have a much-wanted child.
The note stated: “Ekta Kapoor came to me some years back to become a mother. We tried to help her get pregnant with multiple cycles of IVF. But we were unsuccessful. Hence, we had to take help of the technique of surrogacy, which we performed nine months back at our Bloom IVF Center. Nine months later she has achieved success with the birth of a child on Sunday.”
Ekta told her two million Instagram followers that she was overwhelmed with joy at Ravie’s birth
She said: “I cannot begin to express how happy my baby’s birth has made me. Everything in life does not always go the way you want it to but there are always solutions to those hiccups. I found mine and today I feel immensely proud to become a parent. It is an emotional moment for me and my family and I can’t wait to begin this new journey of being a mother to my little bundle of joy, Ravie Kapoor.”
The producer has acted in many television programmes and films since the early 1990s. She comes from a well known family of actors and actresses; her parents are the Jeetendra and Shobna Kapoor.
Ekta’s brother, Tusshar Kapoor welcomed son, Lakshya via surrogacy, to which she is a doting aunt.
Many Bollywood stars have travelled the surrogacy route to have children, including Lisa Ray, Salman Khan and Farah khan.
